About Our Organization

When you support Ride for the Rescue, you're helping the Rescue Mission feed, clothe and shelter the poor right here in our community. We've been offering help and hope to the neediest among us since 1887. Every day, 600 meals are provided and more than 200 men have a place to call home. Every year, people are securing jobs, moving into apartments and reconnecting with families because people like you care. Change a life, change a family, change a community-- our community.

It’s hard to believe that Ride for the Rescue is turning 5! Seems like just yesterday the idea of a fundraising bike event was hatched. It’s amazing how Ride for the Rescue has grown. Our first year started small—just 48 riders. In four years, it's grown to 379 riders and more than $400,000 raised!

Along the way, we’ve moved the event from Cazenovia, NY to Syracuse, NY to be closer to the people that we serve, we’ve tweaked routes, added new entertainment elements to the event and this year we’re even trying a new day of the week—all to make Ride for the Rescue the best it can be! We’ve been through record high heat, torrential rain and near-perfect weather so we’re ready to handle whatever comes our way.

With great community support in 2010, we’ve set our sights high and are looking to have perfect weather, 700 riders and raise $250,000.
